Sunday Morning Reflection – June 29, 2025: Consistency in Christ and Living with Purpose

Colossians 3 | 1 Peter 3 | 1 Corinthians 15 | Malachi 1 | Isaiah 1

Today’s reflection invites us to consider the level of consistency in our lives when it comes to our walk with Christ. From our actions and decisions to how we spend our time, we are called to align everything with God’s will. Let’s explore how to ensure our efforts match our testimony, how we can stay rooted in Christ, and how we can make decisions that honor God in all things.

Make Sure Your Effort is Consistent with Your Testimony in Christ

In Colossians 3, Paul calls us to set our minds on things above, not on earthly things. Are your thoughts, actions, and decisions consistent with the testimony you have in Christ? It’s easy to get caught up in the distractions of the world, but we are called to live with intention and purpose. When we say we are followers of Christ, we must ensure that our behavior matches our words. There are things we can do in life that either separate us from Christ or bring us closer to Him.

Imagine this: one drop of poison in a gallon of milk can spoil the entire thing. Likewise, even small, non-Christlike choices can have a profound impact on our lives and our witness for Christ. If we continuously make choices that don’t reflect our faith, we have to ask ourselves: Why do we want to keep the name “Christian” if our lives don’t align with it?

How Often Are Your Decisions Rooted in Seeking God First?

In 1 Peter 3, we are encouraged to be ready to give an answer for the hope we have in Christ. But how often are our decisions actually rooted in seeking God first? Are the choices we make on a daily, weekly, and yearly basis reflecting a deep desire to follow God’s will, or are we letting the world influence us more than we’d like to admit?

It’s crucial to reflect on our spiritual career plan. Just as we plan our professional goals and careers, do we have a plan for growing in faith and living out our Christian values? This requires intentional effort. We are not meant to live our Christian life passively. We must make decisions based on what God has called us to, not based on what the world says we should do.

Are You Abounding in Christ?

In 1 Corinthians 15, Paul reminds us to always give ourselves fully to the work of the Lord because our labor in the Lord is not in vain. Are you abounding in Christ? To abound means to have an abundance—to be fully involved in what God is doing in your life.

If you only talk to and see other believers on Sundays and Wednesdays, are you really living out your faith? Christianity isn’t just a weekend commitment—it’s a daily walk. It’s about making Jesus the center of everything you do. If your Christian life doesn’t extend beyond church services, then it’s time to ask yourself: Am I truly living in the fullness of Christ, or am I just going through the motions?

Give God Your Best, Not Lame Effort

In Malachi 1, God speaks to the Israelites about their half-hearted worship. They were offering sacrifices that were blemished and imperfect, not giving God their best. Do you give God lame prayers? Lame worship? Lame effort? God deserves our best, not our leftovers. Instead of asking, “How was church today?” we should ask ourselves, How was I at church today? Did I show up ready to engage with God and serve others, or did I just go through the motions?

Make Decisions that Optimize You in God

Isaiah 1 calls us to not just go through rituals but to live lives that reflect God’s heart. Are the decisions you make optimizing you in God or minimizing you in God? Every choice you make should be bringing you closer to God, not further away. Whether it’s the way you spend your time, the people you associate with, or the things you prioritize, make sure those decisions are rooted in seeking God’s will.

One Choice Can Make a Difference

Make intentional choices that reflect our commitment to Christ. Every decision matters, and how we live today shapes our spiritual journey. Don’t settle for a life that just “gets by”—live a life that is fully invested in following Christ. Make choices that optimize your relationship with God, that bring you closer to His will, and that reflect the testimony of Christ in you.
