Serving God with the Right Attitude
Scriptures: Acts 2, 1 Corinthians 14, Zechariah 1
Reflection:
Be careful about your attitude serving God.
Your mindset matters just as much as your actions. What are you more concerned about—failing in this world or failing in God? Many people fear losing favor with their jobs, their peers, or their status more than they fear losing connection with the Lord.
Here’s a reality check: If the world would fire you for it, then why would God hire you for it?
It’s time to reexamine your priorities. You can be consistent for the world but full of excuses for God. Faithful to your schedule but faithless in your service.
And just because people are excitable doesn’t mean they are spiritual. Emotion and devotion are not the same thing.
Understanding Spiritual Authenticity
Acts 2 shows us the difference between speaking in tongues and people pretending to. The gift of tongues is not chaos—it’s clarity.
Speaking in tongues does not include spewing gibberish. It involves speaking actual languages that someone can interpret. 1 Corinthians 14 confirms this truth: “The Holy Spirit is not the author of confusion.”
In a culture that often prioritizes feelings over faith, we must remember:
The facts do matter regardless of what this current world may say.
Truth does not bend to emotion.
Some of the things you think or believe are simply because you feel it—they are not based out of faith.
Be Serious About Worship
Zechariah 1 challenges us to take worship seriously. When you come before God, it’s not about mood or moment—it’s about honor.
Ask yourself:
Do you worship only when you’re in the mood?
Do you worship God—or do you worship self and feelings?
Be careful what you let your emotions attach to. Every feeling you feed will grow stronger—so feed the ones that draw you closer to God.
Coming to church might be your BEST chance for success in life. Not because of tradition, but because it’s where truth and transformation can happen—if your heart is open.
Obedience Is Better Than Sacrifice
God doesn’t need your performance; He desires your obedience. There are some decisions you have to reverse—things you’ve done or attitudes you’ve carried that have kept you from serving Him fully.
And when it comes to others—have authentic conversations so that you know where they are at.
Real ministry requires real honesty.
Challenge:
Ask yourself daily: Am I serving God with the right heart or the wrong attitude?
Stop prioritizing worldly consistency over spiritual faithfulness.
Let your worship be rooted in truth, not feelings.
Make obedience your daily act of worship.
Speak truth with clarity—not confusion—through both your words and your actions.
