Stop Giving God Small Percentages
Scriptures: 1 John 4, 1 Corinthians 11, 2 Corinthians 4, Luke 14
Is Your Prayer Life Real—or Just Survival?
A hard but necessary question opens this message:
Are you just praying as a coping mechanism?
Many people pray only when overwhelmed…
Only when stressed…
Only when life feels heavy.
But prayer was never meant to be merely emergency relief—it is meant to be relationship.
Communion reminds us of this truth.
1 John 4 and 1 Corinthians 11 call believers to examine themselves through the lens of love, surrender, and truth.
Love That Produces Worship
Here’s a question that should challenge every believer:
Isn’t everyone who loves Jesus Christ supposed to be a worshipper?
If you truly know what God has done…
If you truly believe the love He has shown…
Then worship should not feel forced.
If you know and believe the love God has to you, you WILL worship Him.
Worship is not just singing.
It is gratitude.
It is surrender.
It is visible devotion.
Do Not Hide Your Faith
2 Corinthians 4 reminds us clearly:
The Lord doesn’t want you to HIDE your faith. Do not put your candle under a bush.
Your faith is meant to shine.
Be a light in this world.
In a culture that often pressures believers to privatize faith, scripture calls for visible commitment.
You are loved—
So live a life committed to a loving and caring God.
And sometimes, something as simple as this matters more than people realize:
Say amen more often when you hear a good word in regard to the Lord.
Truth deserves response.
Love Is Bigger Than Comfort
The sermon goes deeper:
Love goes farther than feelings, comfort, and sentiments.
Modern culture often confuses comfort with peace—but comfort is not always God’s priority.
Don’t get so caught up in being “comfortable” all of the time.
Luke 14 reminds us that discipleship costs something.
Seek Ye First Means Exactly That
This statement is simple—but deeply convicting:
Seek ye first means SEEK YE FIRST.
God should not be competing for attention with:
- Careers
- Entertainment
- Relationships
- Personal comfort
- Social approval
Stop giving God small percentages of your life.
God is not asking for leftovers.
He is asking for Lordship.
Relationships Matter
Not every relationship is healthy simply because it exists.
There are some relationships that are not making you better—they are making you bitter.
Who you walk with impacts who you become.
If a relationship consistently weakens your spiritual growth, clouds your judgment, or pulls your focus away from God, it must be examined honestly.
Challenge
- Evaluate whether your prayer life is relationship or merely reaction.
- Let love for God produce visible worship.
- Stop hiding your faith.
- Reject comfort as your highest priority.
- Put God first—truly first.
- Stop giving God leftover percentages.
- Examine relationships that may be producing bitterness instead of growth.
