Be Everything You’re Supposed to Be in God

Scriptures: Romans 1, Hebrews 3, Ezekiel 33, 1 Thessalonians 5, Ecclesiastes 7, Matthew 5, 2 Corinthians 1 & 13

Reflection:

Truth is clear: some people are under God’s judgment because they have rejected Christ (Romans 1). As believers, we must examine our hearts and ensure that our actions align with our faith. Are you putting off important conversations, closing your heart, or allowing stubbornness to replace obedience to God? Remember, stubbornness is only a strength when it’s rooted in God, not in self-will (Hebrews 3).

If you claim to be a Christian yet live in the same patterns as the world, how are you standing as a light for Christ? Repentance and hardness of heart cannot coexist. Do everything you can to be right before God, because anger is never an excuse to sin. Too often, people hide sin in darkness, thinking no one sees, but God always knows (Ezekiel 33). Living in sin is like gambling with your life—an unfair game that’s designed to lead to failure.

Abstain from all appearances of evil and strive for a good reputation (1 Thessalonians 5; Ecclesiastes 7). Sometimes, when people leave you alone, it’s actually a favor—they allow you to grow in ways that honor God. Avoiding a situation doesn’t solve it, and living solely by feelings will never align with faith. Be intentional, live with consistency, and trust God to handle what you cannot.

Expecting thanks for doing what you are supposed to do is a dangerous mindset. Your emotions matter, but they must be in harmony with your faith (2 Corinthians 1). God does care about your feelings, yet sorrow, wrath, or bitterness that contradicts faith can be spiritually damaging. God’s word is precise and non-negotiable; love must extend even to those who are difficult to trust (2 Corinthians 13).

Challenge:

  • Examine areas where your actions don’t match your faith.

  • Remove excuses for anger or bitterness, and practice consistent obedience.

  • Protect your reputation in Christ while being gracious to those who may not deserve it.

  • Strive to be everything you are called to be in God, and let Him take care of the rest.
