Decisions That Define You

Scriptures: James 2, Colossians 3, Malachi 6, 1 Peter 3

Reflection:

Life is full of choices, and the decisions we make reveal our priorities, values, and faith. James 2 challenges us to consider carefully what we take into account before making important life decisions. Your choices show what you are determined to do and reflect the heart you carry.

Colossians 3 reminds us that people observe our actions, forming conclusions, thoughts, and judgments based on the decisions we make. Your faith is visible through the way you live, and God uses your life as a testimony to others.

Malachi 6 asks hard questions: Have you been “demoted” in God? Are your choices influenced by Him? When you leave a place or complete a task, was God pleased with your presence? Are the things you do for the world more important than the things you do for Christ? These questions help us examine whether our priorities are aligned with God’s will.

We cannot live for material things or personal gain. Colossians 3 warns us against pursuing the things of this world as our ultimate purpose. 1 Peter 3 reminds us that as believers, we are called to be transformed. You should not be the same person you once were; your life should demonstrate that God comes first, always.

Trying merely not to defy God is not enough. We are called to actively seek to glorify Him in every choice and action. Each decision is an opportunity to honor God, optimize your faith, and reflect His love in tangible ways.

Challenge:

  • Examine your recent choices: Are they aligned with God’s will or worldly desires?

  • Ask God to guide your decisions so that your life glorifies Him in every action.

  • Be intentional about leaving a positive spiritual impact wherever you go.

  • Remember: God first, God always.
