More Than Just Showing Up

Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 12, Psalms 4, Psalms 111, Psalms 119, 1 Timothy 4, Ephesians 4, Colossians 3

Why Did You Show Up?

1 Corinthians 12 reminds us that the church is not a place—it’s a body.

So here’s the real question:
When you show up, who are you there for? Are you there to be a contributing member to the body of Christ?

Or are you just present without purpose?

There’s a difference between attendance and contribution.
There’s a difference between being in the room and being part of the mission.

Love Requires Time

Here’s a truth that applies both spiritually and practically:
It’s hard to convince anyone else that you love them if you are not spending time with them.

That includes your relationship with God.

Psalms 119 makes it clear:
If you want to be successful in God, then spend time with God!

Time reveals love.
Time builds connection.
Time produces growth.

Do the Self Diagnosis

Psalms 4 challenges us to slow down and reflect:

Spend the time to do the self diagnosis to see what you need to be in Christ.

Instead of always looking outward, take time to look inward:

  • Where am I spiritually?
  • What do I need to change?
  • What do I need to grow in?

Growth doesn’t happen accidentally—it happens intentionally.

What Kind of Example Are You?

1 Timothy 4 asks a question that every believer must answer:

What kind of example are you?

Your life is speaking—whether you realize it or not.

Ephesians 4 brings it together:
What part of the body are you helping?

Because in the body of Christ, everyone has a role.
Everyone has a responsibility.
Everyone has an impact.

You Are Meant to Be Effective

Colossians 3 reminds us that you are not powerless:

You don’t have to believe a lie from the Devil that you can’t be effective in God.

That’s a lie meant to keep you inactive.
A lie meant to keep you comfortable.
A lie meant to keep you from contributing.

Truth is—you can be effective.
You should be effective.
And God expects you to be.

Live It Out This Week

Faith is not theoretical—it’s practical.

So here’s the question you need to carry with you:
Who are you going to love on this week?

Not just think about.
Not just talk about.
But actually show up for.

Because being part of the body of Christ means being active, intentional, and present.

Challenge

  • Stop just showing up—start contributing.
  • Invest time in your relationship with God.
  • Perform a real self-diagnosis this week.
  • Be intentional about the example you are setting.
  • Identify your role in the body and commit to it.
  • Reject the lie that you cannot be effective.
  • Love someone intentionally this week.
