Fate vs. Faith: Choosing the Right Path
Scriptures: Ephesians, James 2, Matthew 7, 1 John 3, 1 Corinthians 10, Ezekiel 18, Proverbs 20
Fate or Faith?
Many people live as if life is controlled by fate—random events, chance opportunities, and whatever path feels easiest. But the life of a believer is different. The Christian life is not guided by fate; it is guided by faith.
Ephesians reminds us that God has a direction and a purpose for His people. Understanding you are living in God’s will is a GOOD thing. It gives clarity, peace, and confidence.
But the opposite is also true:
Being adrift in faith is NOT good.
A drifting life leads to drifting decisions, and drifting decisions eventually lead to drifting hearts.
The Crossroads of Life
Every believer eventually faces cross roads of life—moments where decisions must be made that will shape the future.
James 2 reminds us that faith is not just belief—it is action. So the question becomes:
How do you know the decisions you make are going to please the Lord or not?
One important truth is this:
If you take a path that is NOT the will of God yet you continue to try to navigate through it, that is NOT the will of God.
Sometimes people know a path is wrong, yet they try to force God to bless it anyway.
Matthew 7 reminds us that the path matters. The road we choose determines the outcome we experience.
Truth and Accountability
1 John 3 challenges us to examine our hearts honestly. One of the most telling signs of a hardened heart is this question:
Do you hate the people that tell you the truth?
