Sunday Morning Reflection – May 25, 2025: The Power of Your Choices
John 21 | 1 Corinthians 16 | Joshua 24
Today, we are reminded of the weight and significance of our choices in life. Every action, every decision, and every word we speak matters, not just to ourselves, but to the people around us and to God. The choices we make today shape who we are and where we’re headed. Let’s explore how we can live intentionally for God, with purpose and commitment, and how our decisions reveal our true hearts.
What Are You Willing to Do for Love?
In John 21, Jesus asks Peter three times, “Do you love me?” The question isn’t just about words—it’s about action. What are you willing to do for love? When you love the Lord, you are glad to worship and praise Him. Your love for God isn’t just a feeling—it’s demonstrated in how you live your life, in how you treat others, and in your willingness to follow His commands. The love you have for God should inspire joy and gratitude, leading to a life that reflects His goodness and love.
Living for God Can Cause Family Issues
1 Corinthians 16 reminds us that living for God can sometimes cause issues within our families or relationships. When you choose to follow Christ, not everyone will understand. Some may even oppose your faith or make things difficult. But we are reminded that our commitment to God must come first. You can’t choose to be unfaithful to God today and think tomorrow is promised. Our decisions today matter because they shape our future.
Today matters! You don’t have the luxury of putting off what God is calling you to do. Life is uncertain, and tomorrow is never guaranteed. The choices you make today say who you are. Will you live faithfully for God, or will you let circumstances, fears, or others dictate your decisions?
The Consequences of Anger
When we get angry, do things get really bad? Anger is one of the most destructive emotions. It can cloud our judgment, destroy relationships, and lead us to make decisions we regret. In moments of intense anger, we must learn to pause and reflect on how we respond. If you haven’t been handling your anger well, don’t let it define you. Take responsibility for your actions and choose to respond with love and patience.
Some of you may be waiting for the exam—the test of your faith—but don’t realize you’ve actually missed it. Life often tests us in ways we don’t expect. If you’ve been avoiding God’s calling or putting off spiritual growth, now is the time to get back on track. If you were a coward in the moment, don’t say you are brave. Our choices speak louder than words, and God sees our hearts.
Living for God Keeps You from Foolishness
Joshua 24 presents a powerful challenge: Choose this day whom you will serve. Living for God will keep you from making a fool out of yourself. It’s easy to be swayed by the temptations and distractions of the world, but living according to God’s word gives us direction and purpose. Don’t play games with God. Be committed, and stand firm in your faith.
Today is the day you need to get right with God. If there are areas of your life where you’ve been hesitant or disobedient, don’t wait for tomorrow. The time is now. God’s grace is available to you today, and He’s calling you to live for Him with all your heart.
One Choice Can Make a Difference
The choices we make today are of eternal significance. Whether it’s choosing to love God fully, responding with grace in moments of anger, or standing firm in our faith despite opposition, every choice matters. Our choices today reflect who we are, what we value, and where we’re going. Let’s make the decision today to live intentionally for God, to walk in love, and to honor Him with our choices.
